I am the Team Leader experienced in the Field from Instrument Apprentice to Technician to Professional Engineer to Technical Manager and Functional Project Management across a range of Industries in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Water, Glass, Nuclear.
My first steps were as an Instrument Apprentice in the Nuclear Industry and not long after I studied at City University London and gained a degree with Honours in Control Instrumentation and Systems Engineering thereafter I travelled the World developing & honing skills in Process Control Automation Instrumentation and HAZOPs.
I worked closely with End Users and IC&A Integrators /vendors and leading the team forward working for several blue chip companies: Shell, Honeywell, Schneider-Electric, British Gas, St. Gobain, NSRP Refineries, Upstream & Mid Stream Libya Strategic Programme Office supporting LNOC.
As the onsite consultant for the Libya Strategic Programme Office in Tripoli we developed the Project Life Cycle reporting structure from the best of PMBOK, PM2, APM for rolling out to all 13 LNOC subsidiary companies. My responsibilities included producing monthly progress reports, with Risk Register updates and recommendations for each of the Project phases and supporting the ERP rollout development for LNOC.
Site Construction Manager responsible for all aspects of CDM Site Works for an automation upgrade of FMCG production including all aspects of reporting , team co-ordination and maintaining site safety and Functional safety. IOSH certified. Entailing 125 personnel and 16 subcontractors. No injuries and no lost time.
In any lean organisation there are pockets of weakness or a vacuum of skills. I fill those areas and support as a SME. This has been my nature throughout my career to fill the vacuums and take the lead.
Power Management Systems is one such case where I have managed the supplier and end user in redesigning their software and functionality to prevent sitewide refinery blackouts.
In Oil Gas & Petrochemicals Industries I have been an active member of leadership teams and steering committees for on on-line on-process DCS Migration upgrades , Cyber Security planning, TA planning and managed a multicultural team in all aspects of Process Control Automation incl Advanced Process Control from Crude Distillations, Cracking, Blending through to Ship Loading. Sites have included: Shell Stanlow, Murco Petrochemicals, EVC Runcorn, EVC Hillhouse Fleetwood, NSRP-Vietnam. 5 Years. Shell Sites systems predominantly Foxboro/Invensys/Schneider-Electric IA and Triconex.
Kazakhstan - Kashagan Project Caspian Onshore & Offshore as Technical Manager for site-wide implementation and commissioning for all DCS SGS F&G Systems. Managing a team of 80 Engineers at its peak labour demand and managing client expectations. Followed by Project Management of several Kazakhstan based projects - 7 years.
Director of Design & Build Engineering Company I assembled a team of 8 engineers to work with me on DCS-PLC applications from specifications through to implementations and commissioning on Water Treatment Works Overton, Frankley through Fischer & Porter. Project Managed SCADA implementation projects in the North West of England supporting Aughton, CISE, Bilfinger. I have supported DCS Vendors Invensys/Schneider-Electric during their peak workloads to supplement their core teams.
TUV certified and black channel networking expertise. From writing Functional Specifications for DCS applications through to ESD systems and managing Process Safety HAZOP, LOPA, Assessments for SIL classifications utilizing Industry tools such as PHA Pro, SIF Pro. To assure Process Safety. I selected the key HAZOP team members from each principal dept and called in experts to share their knowledge and experience and established Process Nodes for identifying risk in the what if scenarios to assure Process Safety with Risk Categories for further urgent and remedial works.
My Project Management and leadership has helped End Users receive functionally acceptable complex systems projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. I have a proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams to effect a safe working solution with recommendations for further improvements under a LOPA strategy.
